The beautiful people of Africa

24/7 - a colloquial phrase used to describe something that is available at all times, whether morning or night. This notion of being available at all times grows further and further from reality as we fail to keep up with the preconceived rush of modern life. Yet if we take the opportunity to free up our time, we may find simple pleasures and great wonders that surround us, all of the time.

I once met a wise man who postulated that depression strikes those who live in the past, living with a constant sense of yearning, melancholy and nostalgia, and perhaps even a desire to re-live or alter one’s history. Whereas anxiety strikes those who live in the future, constantly striving for a sense of stillness and contentment which never comes and only ever seems to remain in the distance.

So to be truly content, to feel at ease, to feel a sense of joy, said man proposes that perhaps being available, even if not at all times, but at the least, in this very present moment right now could be a start.

This blog is inspired by the ever-growing series of my present moments, connecting with amazing people, cultures, places and being available and fully present in experiencing the world we are blessed to live upon.

Besides twenty-four-seven also happens to be the day I was born.
