One month in Arusha, Tanzania. Seeing as we finally have internet set up, an update is long overdue. We have found a home here, in the outskirts of Arusha town, set upon the hills leading up to Mount Meru. Every morning, we are blessed with the view of the sunrise behind Meru as the clouds begin to clear. Every evening, Meru shows her wrinkles that have been carved over decades and centuries as the sunset makes her glow an amber red. Working with Flying Medical Service has been an incredible experience so far. I work with an incredible team of souls, pilots, healthcare workers and teachers, all striving to improve the livelihoods of adolescents with disabilities and providing basic healthcare to anyone who needs it. We’ve had the pleasure of flying over the famous savannahs of Africa, viewing into the crater of Oldoinyo Lengai, snow spotting on the tip of Kilimanjaro (on a clear day), seeing animals trek across the drylands as the rains aren’t due yet for another month or so, and providing healthcare and medical evacuations in some of the most remote areas with the most amazing people and landscapes. Looking forward to many many more experiences (and at times, frustrations) over the next year and a half.
