Vicarious Cambodia
Being dominant in the left hemisphere of my brain, I choose language to convey my thoughts and experience. But there are definitely methods in which those who live in the right hemisphere of their mind to share their experiences with others. Here is Cambodia, captured in images and stop-motion by my other half. Now you can really feel like you were there. … [Read more...]
Persia and Prejudice
In an effort to define who we are, we focus on that which separates us from one another. We emphasise the qualities that make us unique, an individual; a way to stand out and say here I am. This pursuit of that which defines us, or separates us, often leads us down the path of isolation, alienation and prejudice. Prejudice, where judgment is made on that which differs rather than that which connects us, our common ground. There is no other place in the world that experiences this prejudice … [Read more...]
Conquering my three greatest fears in Africa
The fear of heights, the fear of speed, and the fear of not being in control. Sounds like a perfect combination for a skydiving experience! Well it was exactly the reason I decided to go. Victoria Falls, Okavango Delta & Dune 7

It is quite hard to imagine how big it actually is from the ground. So always wanting to ride in a helicopter at least once in my life, this was the perfect opportunity. But to hear the smoke that thunders, you … [Read more...]
The Serengeti Plains, The Ngorongoro Crater & The Lion King
In the northwest corner of Tanzania lies two of the seven natural wonders of Africa, the Serengeti Plains infamous for the largest land animal migration in the world (the Serengeti migration) and the Ngorongoro Crater, which isn't actually a crater but a caldera, a volcano which collapsed into itself forming a cauldron-like formation. The name Serengeti is derived from the Masai word 'Serengti', which means endless plains. And that is exactly what you see on safari. An endless plain of … [Read more...]
Losing my travel virginity in Africa
No it's not what you are thinking. This is a reference to my first adventure as a solo traveller. Being an animal lover, vegetarian and extremely fond of the voice of David Attenborough as he narrates his favourite parts of the world, it was no doubt that I would find myself voyaging in Africa to pop my travel cherry. Like many others who are only given a certain amount of time off from work, I wanted to see everything in a short space of time. A sole female travelling through Africa? I … [Read more...]
